I was raised in the Northeast Nebraska town of Orchard, NE, and I graduated high school from Orchard Public Schools.  Throughout my life, education has played a significant role in helping me become who I am today, and it is something that I still hold in high regard to this very day.  Growing up I was constantly in a school setting due to my father being a teacher and a coach, and I know this had an impact on shaping my attitudes about wanting to be an educator.  However, it wasn't until my Junior year of high school that I started to strongly consider becoming a teacher, but as I graduated from high school and started college, I knew that teaching and being a part of education was something that I was passionate and energetic about.

Graduating from Nebraska Wesleyan University was and still is something that I am very proud about.  During my time in college I was able to challenge myself and begin shaping my educational philosophy.  It was during my years in college that I found myself becoming more involved with and interested in Middle School education.  Through practicums and student teaching, I realized very quickly that my teaching style and personality fit well with the Middle School philosophy.  That philosophy is centered around developing strong relationships with students,  small learning communities, understanding the social, emotional, and physical needs of the students; and creating new experiences for students in and outside of the classroom to help them succeed in whatever they do.

After graduating from college, I became an 8th grade Language Arts teacher at Elkhorn Ridge Middle School in the Elkhorn Public School District. I also coached JV baseball, 7th grade boys basketball, 8th grade girls basketball, and 7th and 8th grade track.  While teaching, I worked towards obtaining a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership through Concordia University.  I would not change my experience teaching in the classroom for anything because it granted me the opportunity to understand the workings of a how a Middle School can be such a special place for the students and staff that are a part of it.

I am excited to be a part of the Boone Central School district, and I am looking forward to working with staff and students to help make Boone Central Middle School a great place to learn and grow.  Middle Schools offer such a great opportunity for all students to succeed, and I am confident that we will continue to make this a special place for our students!
