College Admission Requirements

 

Students need to be aware that course selections in high school impact his/her options after high school.  Each technical school, college, or university has certain admission requirements and it is expected that students successfully complete the requirements for technical school, college or university of his/her choice.

Students have the option to earn college credit while in high school.  Students planning on attending college after high school may choose to take advantage of the different options that Boone Central offers.

General Admission Requirements for UNL, UNK, UNO

English

4 years

All courses must include intensive reading and writing experience.

Math

3 years

Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry

Social Studies

3 years

American or World History, American Government or geography, and an additional social science course

Science

3 years

At least two courses from the following list: Biology, chemistry, physics, or earth sciences; at least one course with laboratory instruction

Foreign Language

2 years

Must be in the same language.

Additional Academic Requirement

1 year

One additional year of math that builds on a knowledge of Algebra

1 additional year from any core category

1 additional year from any core category

 

PLUS: Students must meet ONE of the following:

  • Must be ranked in the upper half of senior class

  • Score a 20 or higher on the ACT

  • An SAT combined score of 950     

     Nebraska State College System  

Admission to the Nebraska State College system is granted to students who have graduated from an accredited Nebraska high school.  It is strongly recommended that students take courses that are designed for college preparation.  Students must request their ACT scores to be submitted to the college directly from ACT.

  • Chadron State College

  • Peru State College, Wayne State College

Nebraska Community College System

Admission to the Nebraska Community College system is granted to students who have graduated from an accredited Nebraska high school or completed the requirements for a GED.  Students must take the ACT or Accuplacer test to assist in placement of courses.

Community Colleges

  • Central Community College - Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings

  • Northeast Community College - Norfolk

  • Southeast Community College - Lincoln, Milford and Beatrice

  • Metro Community College - Omaha

  • Mid-Plains Community College - North Platte and McCook

  • Western Community College - Scottsbluff, Sydney, and Alliance
