College Credit in HS

  • Dual Credit

    Students have the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit in the following courses.  Boone Central's dual credit agreement is with Wayne State College beginning in the fall of 2019.  Students are responsible for the tuition of the course and Boone Central provides any necessary textbooks.  Registration for all dual credit courses takes place late fall for the spring semester.

    Wayne State College

    • Advanced Biology - BIO 102 - Biology for General Studies with lab (3 credits)
    • American History - HIS 150 US History for General Studies (3 credits)
    • Calculus - MAT 140 Calculus I (5 credits)
    • Chemistry - PHS 102 Physical Science Today with lab (3 credits)
    • College Algebra - MAT 121 College Algebra (3 credits)
    • English 12 - ENG 102 Composition Skills (3 credits)
    • English 12 - ENG 150 Topics in Literature (3 credits)
    • The tuition rates are about $49.00 per credit and payment for the course must be attached to the registration form.

    Independent College Courses

    • Students have the option of taking an online college class during school.  Students will be given up to one period in their schedule to work on their college class. Classes can be taken from either Northeast Community College ($49/credit for a specific few classes and $116/credit for all others) or Central Community College ($100/credit). 
    • Students are responsible for the cost of the course and for the cost of the textbook.
    • Courses vary depending on availability, interest and college options of the students.

        • Introduction to Psychology - PSYC 1810 (3 credits)
        • Introduction to Sociology - SOCI 1010 (3 credits)
        • Public Speaking - SPCH 1110 (3 credits)
        • Western Civilization - HIST 1000 (3 credits)
        • Nutrition - HLTH 1470 (3 credits)
        • Introduction to Business - BSAD 1050 (3 credits)
        • Introduction to Music - MUSC 1010 (3 credits)
        • Introduction to Philosophy - PHIL 1010 (3 credits)
        • Introduction to Criminal Justice - CRIM 1010 (3 credits)
        • Comprehensive Medical Terminology - HLTH 1060 (3 credits)
        • History of Rock Music - MUSC 2730 (3 credits)

    ACE Scholarship

    • Online Scholarship Application
    • High school students who are taking dual-enrollment classes may apply for a scholarship. The application must be completed each semester and the student must supply documentation showing eligibility in one of the following programs:
      • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
      • Free or Reduced Lunch
      • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
      • Food Stamps
      • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC)
      • Other Extreme Hardship

    Request a College Transcript

    • Students need to request a transcript from the college that they took the class from in order to transfer credits to the student’s prospective college or university.
    • IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT STUDENTS LOOK INTO THEIR PROSPECTIVE COLLEGES OR UNIVERSITIES PRIOR TO SIGNING UP FOR THE COLLEGE CREDIT to make sure the credits will transfer.
