    Hello, my name is Leanne Blanchard and I am the High School Counselor for Boone Central High School. I grew up right here in Albion, Nebraska. Following my high school graduation in 1992, I attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln to earn my bachelor’s degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. From there I began my career as an educator and I have taught special education for over twenty years.  I have also served as a behavior and inclusion consultant and a special education administrator.  Throughout my career,  I earned a master's degree in secondary school counseling from the University of Nebraska - Kearney and a master's degree in school administration from Concordia University in Seward. 

    I am married to AAron Blanchard, who also grew up here in Albion.  We have five children; Cheynelle, Sierra, Taylor, Molly, and Emmet.  

     

    My role and responsibilities as the high school counselor include:

    Helping students  

           - manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills 

           -short-term counseling 

           -referrals for long-term support 

           -school counseling classroom lessons

    Plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, workforce) 

           -individual student academic planning and goal setting, schedule development, process support, etc.

           -schedule and plan ACT testing and other assessment opportunities

           -school counseling classroom lessons

    Advocate for their own educational needs

           -collaboration with families/teachers/ administrators/ community for student success

           -supporting/advocating for students at individual education plan meetings, 504 meetings, and other student-focused meetings

           -data analysis to identify student issues, needs, and challenges

           -acting as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students
